What is caring well?
ICC's Caring Well team was created in response to the revelations of the abuse crisis in American society and recognizing that such abuse has occurred within churches. Our purpose is to provide our church with a clear pathway to address these issues of abuse. Our team has studied, prepared and written policies and procedures that enhance our efforts to prevent abuse and care for abuse survivors.
We want to educate our church to understand abuse. The heart and vision of ICC is to foster the safest environments possible within our church and to have specific, detailed plans in place to respond swiftly and compassionately to incidents of abuse. We desire to create a culture within our church to show integrity and courage corporately and personally as we act as God’s agents of protection for those being harmed or oppressed by various forms of abuse. We make every effort to be a church that cares well.
We are implementing the comprehensive training of Becoming a Church that Cares Well for the Abused of churchcares.com. It includes policies, strategies, and resources for ministering to victims and protecting people and our church family from predators. This training is required for all church leaders, staff, community group leaders and kids’ volunteers. We desire to be a place safe from abusers and safe for the abused.
